The department of Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Office of International Relations & Collaboration Cell happily reports the Day-1 (10.11.21) of Japanese Endowed Course (JEC), a joint governmental initiative of the Govt of Japan and Govt of India. We thank our Honourable President Er.A.C.S.Arunkumar for their support and encouragement to bring up this collaborative program. The Day-1 Program was hosted by Mrs.Clevita.E.Mascarenhas, Hiyoshi Corporation, Japan. Firstly, introduction of Hiyoshi Corporation and Hiyoshi India, including the relationship between Hiyoshi with India and its overseas business and took us to a virtual tour to the facilities of Hiyoshi India at Chennai. Mrs.Clevita, then formally introduced the 14 instructors and 10 students of the JEC. Session 1 was handled by Mr.M.R.Ranganathan, Chairman, ABK AOTS DOSOKAI Tamilnadu Centre, Chennai, explained about Japan covering the Japanese culture and economy. He also explained the opportunities for Indian students in Japan both for higher education and also Job openings in the manufacturing sectors. The students and the audience had a very nice time understanding Japan virtually.

Report on Dr MGR – Hiyoshi Japanese Endowed Course (JEC): Day 1- Session 2 (10.00 – 11.30am):
The department of Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Office of International Affairs happily reports session 2 of Day-1 (10.11.21) of Japanese Endowed Course (JEC). The topic “The history of Japan’s economic development and environmental problems, its responses (laws and regulations, etc.) and its associated environmental business (from the end of World War II to four major pollution) was handled by Mr.Kazuhiro Yoshida of Hiyoshi Corporation, Japan, in Japanese language which was interpreted in English language by Mr.Sundaram. The students were able to understand the lecture very well and have expressed their happiness on learning new topics. We thank beloved President for his support and encouragement and the executives for their continuous support and motivation.

Report on Dr MGR – Hiyoshi Japanese Endowed Course (JEC): Day 1(10.11.21) – Session 3 (11.45 – 1.15pm)
The department of Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Office of International Affairs happily reports the Day-1, session 3 of Japanese Endowed Course (JEC). In session 3, Mrs.Etsuko Kawasaki, Hiyoshi Corporation, Japan explained about Introduction to Japan’s Environment. The session was explained in Japanese language which was interpreted in English for the benefit of our students and audience. Mrs.Kawasaki took up the scenarios after the four big pollutions of Japan and detailed about the Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and asbestos, basic laws for environmental pollution for Japan together with the requirements of the manufacturing sector to avoid pollution. It was a knowledge sharing session as a whole. Mr.Firosh Naseem, Final year civil engineering student expressed his happiness on learning new environmental topics from this JEC initiative.
