Event Description:
On 20th March 2022, the “Blood donation Camp – Operation Rouge – II” a Community Service Program organized by the Rotaract club of MGR E&T along with 24 colleges, was held at Shri Shankarlal Shasun Jain College for Women. The main objective of this event was to raise awareness about the need to donate blood regularly to increase the availability of safe blood and its products for patients in need. The inauguration session initiated at 9:30 a.m. The Chief Guest of this session was Mr. Karunanidhi.J, member of the legislative assembly, T.Nagar and the Guests of honor of the session were Mr.K.Ezhumalai, MC 136th ward, Mr. Raja Anbazhagan, MC 141st ward, Rotarian Suresh. R, President for the year 2021-2022 RC of Chennai prestige and Lt. Col. Samuel J Premkumar, Lieutenant Colonel and the special invitees were Rotarian Shivkumar Eswaran Youth service chairman for the year 2021-2022, Rotary club of Madras, Dr. David Stanley, Dean of students, shift- I, Loyola college and Prof. Issac Francis, Dean of students, shift – II, Loyola college. With the Event Chairman calling the event to order. Then, the event chairman delivered the Special Address for the session. Followed by that, the chief guest felicitated the Organizing Committee Chairman and other Co-Chairmans. Then the various collaborating colleges were felicitated respectively. The blood drive started at 10 a.m. with many people predominantly coming forward to donate blood. The donor agents for the session were from Government hospitals and the Red Cross Hospital. The donors were first checked of their blood types and then, with the proper equipment, blood extraction process was coordinated. Followed by that, necessary food supplements were provided to the Blood Donors. The Session came to end with a total of 108 people donating their blood, in which 40 donors were from Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute.
