The 17th Special Lecture was organised by the faculty of Law on the topic, Human Rights in independence India Progressive Legislations and Challenges . On 24th February 2023 from 10.30 am to 12.30pm.The Speaker of this session was Mr.Prof. *N.E. RAJ. FCAE (U.K), Honorary Prof. Indian institute of Human Rights New Delhi (Tamilnadu Region). The Speaker of the session provided valuable topic on Constitution of India and Human Rights. Important Cases discussed by the Chief Guest and also discussed about the factors including acts of terrorism that inhibit the enjoyment of human rights and recommended remedial Measures by the chief Guest. These following topics were discussed briefly.
1)Magna Carta, Universal Declaration of Human Rights -1948, Protection of Human Rights act 1993, to review the constitutional and other legal safeguards for the protection of human rights and recommended measures for their effective implementation, to intervene in any proceeding involving an allegation of violation of inmates and make recommendations thereon, important Statues Article 21,22,32, and 39A of indian Constitution,POCSO Act 2012, Environment Act,,SC,ST, Prevention of Atrocities Act,RTI,
Chief Guest Concluded the Session with his quote “Statutes (Laws) will be Statues ( Made of Stone). If they are not fulfilling the purpose for which they were enacted, Which is to Serve the People and to protect the weaker section of the Society.
The Students were enlightened with many interactive question based on topic and clarified by the Chief Guest.
The Special Lecture was encouraged under guidance of Dr. Prof.K.Murugadoss sir Dean Faculty of Law,Dr. Prof.N.Murugavel sir (Director – FOL) and Dr.prof. G.C.Kothandan Sir Executive Director -Legal.
