Faculty of Law has organised LEGAL AID AWARNESS CAMP with Taluk Legal Services Committee ,TLSC, Poonamallee, on “Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach” (PAN India Campaign from 31st Oct to 13th Nov 2022)

In compliance of the directions of NALSA & TNSLSA Taluk Legal Services Committee (Child Friendly Legal Services to children and their protection) scheme 2015 the Legal Aid camp was conducted through online meet on 10.11.2022 at 3.00 pm .The Principal’s of Saveetha Law College, Veltech School of Law and MGR University Facultyof Law are required to join the programme.
At the outset one of the TLSC member has enlightened the Constitutional Protection of Children and the importance of Child beneficial Legislations especially child abuse enactment of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,2012 and Right to Education Act,2009 and unauthorised labour.They also emphasized to approach Legal Aid Services for offences committed against children and also for child helpline.
The Hon’ble Chairman/Principal District Judge, Thiruvallur, has highly appreciated Our Dr.MGR E&RI,(deemed to be University) for the effective participation of Dean, Dr.K.MURUGADOSS FOL, along with Committee member, Mrs. N.AMUTHALAKSHMI, Faculties Mrs. O.P.Bhaanumathee, Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, Mrs. G.V. Vidhusha, Mrs. Krithika and 18 Law students from each class both from 3 years and 5 years LLB whereas the other universities when called was absent to represent from their behalf of their institutions.
The Hon’ble Chairman/Principal District Judge has also provided instructions for the inaugural of a free legal aid clinic in our premises as early as possible and also assured to implement the scheme in our institution.
They also insisted our Law students to participate in free legal aid camp to guide both public and students of our and other institution students. National Legal Services Authority has framed scheme for Child welfare that is to be circulated to all the concerned Educational institutions and concluded the Session.
