The Interior Design Materials and Construction faculty of 1st year M. Arch course organized a Market study visit to BuildHQ Mall, Egmore for the students of the same corresponding to their Academic project portfolio, Market study of interior design materials, as a part of their Curriculum. The market study was guided by the respective faculty. The students were divided into 4 groups of 5 members each and visited each and every stall inside the BuildHQ complex, each stores managers provided the students with the information of the materials.
The entire session was an exercise for the students to understand the product/ materials its properties, cost of the materials and also to interact with vendors to gather insight knowledge about the material. BuildHQ is a mall/ shopping complex that exhibits wide range of shops relating to construction and interior industry, therefore the students were able to collect details on various materials in one single visit. The students had an enlightening session, as they saw not only the products but also how it works / installation techniques and touch and feel of the materials.
The overall feedback of the students was overwhelmingly positive, and the students gained a fresh perspective not only on the different materials available in the market, but also the innovative and new materials that have been in trend in the recent past.
