The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in association with IEEE MGR Student Chapter organized NEXUS2K22-a two day National Level Technical Symposium on Technology on Greener world –Version 12.0 on 17.03.2022 and 18.03.2022 . The Symposium was conducted through Zoom platform and aired live in EEE Official YouTube Channel. The Symposium was framed with 5 technical events and 5 non-technical events. The Chief Guest for Inauguration was Dr. N.Pappa, Prof./Head, Dept of Engineering, MIT Anna University Chennai and for the Valedicatory function was presided by Dr.Karuppanan, Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad.
The objective of the Symposium was to provide a platform for the participants to acquire ideas and showcase their potential through technical and non-technical events .
The first day of the Symposium started with an inaugural function at 10.00 a.m with an inaugural note by Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. Geethalakshmi madam which was followed by the felicitation address delivered by Dr.L Ramesh Sir,Joint Registrar-EPA. The Joint Register Dr. L. Ramesh shared his views on the technical symposium and also stressed the Importance of conducting such events which will serve as a platform to educate the students community .The welcome address was delivered by Dr. S. Bhuvaneswari, HoD/EEE. Mrs. S. T. Rama, Asst. Professor/EEE & Association Convener summarized on the organization of Nexus ,which is a traditional event of EEE conducted every year. Dr. M. Ethiraj, Dean-E&T gave a special address to the gathering and motivated the students to develop new innovative ideas in making the world greener.
Ms. Sweatha, Student Coordinator introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. N. Pappa discussed the importance of the students getting exposed to the literate world in her speech .She also added various information for students regarding the technical event conducted in the events organized in the symposium and also stating that how this kind of forum will serve as bridge for knowledge sharing and technical upliftment in their career .She also connected the event by emphasizing the value and how it would benefit the students in their career.
On Day 1,the paper presentation was the first event held in Labview Academy on 17/3/2022 at 11a.m. 4 parallel sessions was conducted through online mode. Each session was chaired by eminent professor from various Engineering colleges and Universities. Totally 61 papers were received from various colleges. Out of which 42 papers were shortlisted for the presentation .All the students did their level best and among them 3 were selected as best papers.
Next event was online carrom held at Power Electronics lab on 17/3/2022 at 11:30a.m to 1 p.m .Totally 43 participants registered and 36 participants attended.
Another event was technical quiz held at VOC 212 , totally 45 students registered and 30 students participated .
Simultaneously, business simulation event was held at A112 Microprossesor lab on 17/3/2022 from 12 p.m to 1 p.m .12 teams registered and 10 teams actively participated and the winners were selected .
Mobile Photography was also conducted as a part of non-technical event.The participants were given a theme “Macro Photography on Greener world”. The photos were uploaded in Department Instagram and the winners were selected based on the highest number of views .The Technical event connections was connected on two days due to increase in the number of participants. The students took part actively in the events and expressed their creatively .
On Day 2, the following events like project expo ,BGMI ,Anime and series, Tech talk and Connections was organized.
The project expo commenced at 10 a.m. was conducted at Power Electronics lab. The students showcased their hardware and Software projects which interpreted their technical skills and it was extremely well organized .
Tech talk event was conducted at Electrical Machines lab (RA006) between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The non-technical event BGMI was conducted from 10.00a.m to 1.00 p.m which was enthusiastically participated by 150 participants. The Last event of the Symposium ,Anime and Series was conducted at 11.00 a.m in Labview Academy.
The Symposium concluded with the valedictory function through Zoom platform on 18.3.2022 at 2.00 p.m. The event was hosted by Ms. Sweatha and Mr.Vignesh, Student Coordinators. Dr.V.Cyril Raj Sir ,Additional Registrar-Administration delivered the special address. He emphasized that the students have to focus on developing ideas on energy conservation to make the society greener. Dr.E.Sheeba Percis mam, Joint registrar-Solar projects encouraged the Students to concentrate on Research in Renewable sector.The summary report of the two days National Level Technical Symposium was delivered by Mrs.B.R.Sankari,Asst. Prof/EEE and Secondary Convener. The Winners list was announced by Mrs.S.T.Rama, Asst. Professor/EEE & Association Convener. The Symposium concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms.S.Saranya, Joint Secretary.
