The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Association with IEEE MGR Student Chapter conducted a Guest Lecture on “Automotive Power Train Topology “on 5th March 2022. The Speaker of the session was Mr.Barath Murugan, Embedded Software Engineer, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions, Coimbatore, India. His area of interest is Autonomous car and ADAS enthusiast and Extrovert with professional experience in Embedded Software Engineering and core competency areas including RTOS, Multi-core, Automotive electronics, Complex Low-Level driver development. The Guest lecture was held via Google Meet platform and more than 80 students participated. The session commenced around 11.00 A.M. He shared his experience in Automotive Power Train Topology.
At the beginning of the lecture he gave the usage of electronics in Automotive industries, leads to better control over the vehicle, emission reduction, Fuel efficiency, improved human-vehicle interaction. He also discuss on different types of electronics used in vehicles such as power train control, body and chasis control, Autonomous driving and connected cars, Transmission control and Infotainment and cluster systems. He had explained about the Electronics control unit (ECU) with block diagram and also ECU SW architecture – component model and also major initiative towards standardization was discussed.
Finally, he explained in detail on the Overview of Engine Management System (EMS) with Electronics control unit (ECU). The lecture concluded with Q & A session. The session was highly interactive throughout the session and the event was an eye opener for the students to apply technical knowledge in automotive industries.
