National integration event – “Proud to be an Indian” -25-2-2022(Friday ) @2:30 pm
This event is organised by RISE ECO CLUB, FACULTY OF ARCHITECTURE, DR.M.GR EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE to promote harmony -instead of being diverse in the Indian society in terms of culture, multiple languages, religions, geographical diversity, etc people mix up with each other, understand, and work in a group. Thus, to develop a better understanding and to strengthen the unity of people in society National Integration events organised. This time we invited COL(RETD) P Ganesan VSM who served our Indian army and vasisht seva medalist to inspire students and they were made aware of the contribution of the unsung heroes of our nation.
Col Ganesan was born and brought up in rural back ground in Sannanallur, a village near thiruvarur. An active sports enthusiast did his Early Schooling at sannanallur Board high school followed by college degree at Annamalai polytechnic in, Chettinad.
Went on to serve in PWD of Tamilnadu Govt in early 60s from where he was selected at Army service in 1963.
Colonel Ganesan had not only lived his life but demonstrated to the world that human endeavour is beyond any measurement.
To add on the accolades , he was Awarded the prestigious Vashisht seva medal by the President of India,1994 following which he Retired from Army 1994.
Post his retirement , Colonel Ganesan had been very active on the media to highlight his project “Inspirational Park “.
Selected as India’s mission leader to Dakshingangotri, Indian Antarctic Research Station, at south pole, Antarctica,and spent 480 days at the icy continent in late 80’s
Highlights of the event
The program included national anthem started with the intro to col. P Ganesan and the interview video is played followed by inspiring talk by Col(retd.).P. GANESAN VSM followed by Q&A session and then a tribute video for Indian army is played after vote of thanks note . Col(retd.).P. GANESAN VSM is honoured with a memento (tree and planter gift ) on behalf of Faculty of Architecture , DR.M.GR. Educational and Research Institute . Event is broadcasted live in you tube and meeting conducted in google meet and more than 70+ students and faculties attended the event
