The Faculty of Law of the of Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institutue (Deemed to be University) has presented a two-day online National Conference titled “The Indian Constitution – Past, Present and the Future., on the 6th and 7th of September, 2021.

The online National Conference was honoured to have among its panel of speakers, three distinguished legal luminaries, Prof. Dr. T.V. Subba Rao, Professor-Emeritus, VIPS, New Delhi, Prof. Dr. A. David Ambrose (Rtd), of the Dept. Of Legal Studies, University of Madras, Chennai, and Prof. A. Lakshminath, Prof.-Emeritus, MNLUA, Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The eConference provided a platform for observing the Indian Constitution from several vantage points, the past, the present and future. This eConference has highlighted India’s historic path towards self-goverance, the dynamism of our Constitution, its principles, policies, provisions, its federalism, the scope of Constitutional amendments, the applicability of ultra-modern democratic in the Indian context, proposals for amendment, change and reform in the Constitutiuon, and finally, the way ahead for governance in India.

Besides addresses by the distinguished speakers followed by open discussions, several papers have been presented during the eConference. The Faculty of Law is planning to publish a book with the proceeding of the eConference, along with assoiciated papers. Prof. Dr. N. Rajeswari of the Faculty of Law was the Convener of the eConference, and the event was organized with the support of the Management, Executives, Teaching Faculty, Staff and Students of the Faculty of Law.
