Faculty of Education feels elated to share the report of the short term course on ‘Curriculum Design Development’ in collaboration with Meston College of Education, Chennai with 394 participants. The objective of the course is to inculcate knowledge on designing and structuring the curriculum towards development. It also includes planning, implementation and evaluation processes of the curriculum.
First day session on ‘Learning Outcome Based Curriculum Framework (LOCF)’ started with an inaugural session on 14.02.2022 at 2.15 p.m. with an invocation. The virtual gathering was given a convivial welcome by Dr.K.Geetha, Principal, Faculty of Education, Dr. MGR, ERI and the inaugural address was delivered by Dr. S. GeethaLakshmi, Vice Chancellor, Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute with a vibrant inspiring and motivating note on Curriculum Design and its useful on the development of the learners. The resource person of the day Dr. C. James, Associate Professor of Physics, Dean IQAC, The Controller of Examination, Scott Christian College, Nagercoil was introduced by Dr.S.Devasahayam Selva Kumar, Principal, MCE, Chennai.
The guest initially addressed on the job crisis and job disruption and high lighted that this is the right time to revise the curriculum focussing on the components (purpose, content, method of teaching and learning and assessment) of Education. The session had an insight on how the new education policy focus on learning outcomes and so the guest elaborated on outcome based education that targets success for all at the end. The take away of the session was change in teaching will make a great difference.
