EFA Day-2 and Valedictory Session report

The Rotaract Club of Dr. MGR E&T in association with The Literary Seminary and The Rotary Club of Mogappair organized a 2-day English For All (EFA) session for the students of V. P. U. Middle School, Sector – 9, Mogappair West, Chennai On 3rd and 4th December 2021. Day-2 of the EFA session commenced at 11.30 am intending to encourage the students to understand and improve basic and essential communication skills in English i.e, LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing). The volunteers conducted activities for the students to help them learn faster. Students were engaged with ice-breaking sessions to break their weary and cobble up a connection with the volunteers. Students enjoyed interacting with the volunteers. To improve their Speaking Skill, The volunteers demonstrated how to introduce themselves, and followed by that, all the students came forward to give their introduction without fear. During the Syllabification activity, the students were educated with the learning skill and all of them had more interest in educating themselves. Though the Vocabulary activity was a challenge for the students but with the proper guidance, they acknowledged it perfectly and learned new words. Students were indulged in learning the essential communication skills after being perceptive of how important it was. Students experienced many moral stories and were asked to be attentive to answer the questions asked by volunteers, none of the students waivered to answer. All the students took notes of what they learned from all the activities and sessions and assured that they will never forget what they have learned and will continue to learn self-paced. The EFA session was concluded with the Valedictory session at 3.30 pm. The session commenced with the Welcome Address by Mr. Sathish Kumar, a Student Member of The Literary Seminary, A Professional Society, from Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute and The Rotaract Club of MGR E&T in V. P. U. Middle school with the presence of Mrs. Amudha, Head Mistress of the V. P. U. Middle School, Mr. Jagannath, Vice Principal of the V. P. U. Middle School, IPP Rtn. T. V. Radhakrishnan, Chairman Literacy, Rotary club of Mogappair, Rtr. Gokul, Self-Defense Trainer from the Rotaract Club of Spectrum, Rtr. Vinoth Kanna, Physical Trainer from the Rotaract Club of Spectrum, Rtr. Aravind, President of the Rotaract Club of Spectrum, Rtr. Lakshman Prasad, Event Coordinator from the Rotaract Club of Spectrum, Dr. R. Pushkala, Dept. of English and In-Charge of The Literary Seminary, Ms. A. Thangam, Convenor, The Literary Seminary and Coordinator of Rotaract, MGR E&T, and Ms. Sai Roopa, Former Treasurer of the Rotaract Club of MGR E&T and Alumnus of The Literary Seminary. Followed by the Welcome Address, The session had a Very Valuable Feedback Session from Mrs. Ezhil Arasi, a Staff member, and 6 Students of the V. P. U. Middle School. During the Felicitation, Rtn. T. V. Radhakrishnan, President Literacy, Rotary Club of Mogappair shared a very interesting and thoughtful life experience story. Followed by the moving story, He presented Rtr. Gokul, Self Defense Trainer, and Rtr. Vinoth Kanna, Physical Trainer from the Rotaract Club of Spectrum with a token of gratitude. Continued with the experience from the students, Rtr. Gokul, Self Defense Trainer, and Rtr. Vinoth Kanna, a Physical Trainer from the Rotaract Club of Spectrum shared a few words. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Natasha, a student member of The Literary Seminary for the Valedictory. Finally, The session concluded at 4:00 pm with everyone raising for the National Anthem.
