The Faculty of Law has organized a Professional Society Event on Crime Investigation in Forensic Science on 31st January 2024 from 12 PM to 1.30 PM at Smart Room, Phase 2 Campus, DRMGRERI.

The speaker of the session was Mr. Gowri Shankar, Assistant Professor, from Sathyabama School of Law, Chennai. The session was very interactive and enlightened the students regarding the whole process of investigation and its legal formalities. The Speaker compared the provisions from the Evidence Act to the procedure mentioned in CrPC and highlighted their interdependence. The investigation procedure cannot function without adducing proper evidence and mere evidence cannot prove the guilt of the accused without using them during the course of trial.

The speaker started with comparative analysis of Indian Evidence Act and CRPC sections 153-175 : Crime Investigation.
Starting from the First Information Report (FIR) which sets the motion for the investigation of a crime and by submitting the Final Report (Chargesheet) before the trial court. To prove the contents of the Charge-sheet, appropriate and relevant evidence needs to be furnished before the Court.
