The Faculty of Architecture, Department of Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology Chemistry and Office of International Relations & Collaboration Cell happily reports the Day-1 of Japanese Endowed Course (JEC), a joint governmental initiative of the Govt of Japan and Govt of India. We thank our Honourable President,Er.A.C.S.Arunkumar for his support and encouragement to bring up this collaborative program.
The Session -1 of day 1 (9.00am -9.30am) started at 9.00am with the introduction of the six days schedule by Ms Clevita. A brief introduction was given about the scheduled classes. Mr.Mayilsamy, Hiyoshi , India thanked the Hiyoshi Corporation team for had given an beneficial opportunity for the students to Explore and also insisted that the same may be continued for the forth coming years also. The first session was the “Introduction of JEC Course and Japan culture and economy” The session was delivered by Mr.M. R. Ranganathan Chairman, ABK AOTS DOSOKAI Tamilnadu Centre, Chennai. He had given talk as how this Hiyoshi Corporation was started, reason for the startup and its development. His session was very interesting such that the students were attracted towards the Japan culture and their hard work.
The second session of day -1 (9.30am – 10.00am) was started by Mrs.Clevita.E. Mascarenhas, Hiyoshi Japan on the topic “ Introduction of Hiyoshi and Hiyoshi India. The relationship between Hiyoshi and India. Hiyoshi’s overseas business is introduced” at 9.30am where explanation was given about Hiyoshi and Hiyoshi India. The relationship between Hiyoshi and India and how Hiyoshi’s overseas business was introduced. The students enthusiastically involved themselves in the session as it was a link between their own nation and Japan.The session ended up at 10.00am.
The third session of day -1 (10.00am – 11.30.am) started at 10.00am and the lecture was delivered by Mr.Kazuhiro Yoshida, Hiyoshi Japan in Japanese language. Ms Krithika Raman translated it in English and students really enjoyed this session because it was translated very fastly without any lag. The topic of the session was “Introduction to Japan’s Environment 1 (Hygiene → Pollution)”. The history of Japan’s economic development and environmental problems, its responses (laws and regulations, etc.) and its associated environmental business are shown. (from the end of World War II to four major pollution) were explained. They also explained the four types of diseases like Minamata-I, Minamata-II, Ital Ital and Yokkachi Asthma – Occurrence, Incubation period, causes, Symptoms and curing. The session ended up at 11.30am. Followed by that a break of 15 minutes was given.
The fourth session of day-1 ( 11.45am – 1.15pm) the last session started at 11.45am and the lecture was delivered by Mrs.Etsuko Kawasaki, Hiyoshi Japan in Japanese language. On the topic “Introduction to Japan’s Environment 2” (Environment → Ecology). Ms Krithika Raman interpreted in English for the benefit and welfare of the students which went along with the Guest lecture. Explanation on PCB – Polychlorinated Biphenyl- Its applications, uses, harmful effects (Skin disease, hormonal changes etc.,) were explained in detail and Asbestos its effects were explained. The basic laws for environmental pollution for Japan together with the requirements of the manufacturing sector to avoid pollution was explained in detail. The students were very happy as it was a chance to explore about the environmental issues and methodology for rectification. The session ended up at 1.15pm.
