The Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Research was conducted on December 23rd and 24th, 2024, through an online platform. The event began with a warm welcome address by Dr. E. Kavitha, Dean of the Sir C.V. Raman Research Council. Dr. Viswanathan, Rector of Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute, delivered the felicitation address, setting the tone for the program.

Dr. Sandhya, Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, introduced the speakers for both days. On the first day, the session was led by Dr. Udhayakala, Director of CIQA and Dean of Chemistry. She emphasized Goal 16, “Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions,” and discussed the significance of integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into academic research to enhance faculty research capabilities and align their activities with the global SDG framework.

On the second day, Dr. Rajalakshmi, Vice Principal of the Physiotherapy Department, took over the session. She focused on Goal 4, “Quality Education,” and elaborated on the targets of this goal, highlighting its relevance to academic and institutional practices.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Archana Balakrishnan, Associate Professor of Thai Moogambigai Dental College & Hospital. The two-day FDP successfully raised awareness of SDG-related research among faculty members and promoted strategies to align academic efforts with global sustainability goals.
