The faculty of law has organised the 75th of 75 special Lecture series on “CHILD PROTECTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF JUVENILE JUSTICE ACT” on 5th August 2024, from 12:00 am to 01: 50 pm at the Phase 2 campus, DR.MGRERI. The Chief speaker of the day was Thiru. S. THANGASEKARAPANDIAN, Joint Director, Department of Child Welfare and Special Services. The speaker discussed that the Juvenile Justice Act in India stands as a fundamental piece of legislation designed to safeguard the rights, well-being, and rehabilitation of juveniles who come into conflict with the law. The speaker highlighted the importance of separating juvenile offenders from the adult criminal justice system and emphasized the establishment of Juvenile Welfare Boards. The speaker marked the pivotal moments in the evolution of the Act, introducing transformative changes in response to emerging challenges, legal complexities, and the evolving nature of crimes involving juveniles.
