The Faculty of Humanities and Science, Department of English, is delighted to present the report of the Guest Lecture on Teaching and Learning English as a Second Language, held on April 5th, 2024, at AK Civil Smart Room.
The objective of the event was to highlight the significance of learning English across various dimensions. Dr. V. Saravanan, Assistant Professor, Department of English at Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, served as the esteemed resource person of the day. He eloquently elucidated the pivotal role of LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) skills in mastering the English language. Moreover, he introduced diverse approaches to English language learning, including Spiritualism, Technology integration, and the Audio-Lingual Method. Dr. Saravanan also underscored the importance of enriching vocabulary skills among students.
The students exhibited remarkable enthusiasm and actively engaged in the activities conducted. Their participation and responsiveness throughout the event fostered a dynamic and vibrant learning atmosphere. Subsequent to the session, students were afforded the opportunity to articulate their comprehension of the topics discussed.
