The Faculty of Law organized the 40th Webinar on the topic ” Investigation and Trial of offences before the Indian Courts” a procedural approach on 16th October 2023 from 11.30 to 1.30 pm. The speaker of the session was Ms. Uma Devi, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Directorate of Prosecution, Government of Kerala. The speaker discussed that “Investigation has been defined under Section 2(h) of CrPC. Investigation includes all the proceedings under the Code required for the collection of evidence. It is conducted by a Police Officer or by any person other than a magistrate, who has been authorized by the magistrate on this behalf.Steps of Investigation
Proceeding to the spot where the offence has been committed.
Ascertain the facts and circumstances of the case.Discovery and arresting the suspected offender. Collecting evidence of the offence that may consist of:
Examination of various persons (including accused) and reduction of his statement into writing, if it is deemed fit by the officer. The search and seizure that are considered necessary for investigation and to produce before trial. The one day webinar was conducted with guidance of Director Prof .Dr.N.Murugavel, and Dean Prof.Dr.K.Murugadoss and Faculty members.
