The Faculty of Law organized an “Interdisciplinary Lecture on Forensic Science” on 5th March 2025, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Banquet Hall, Phase II, Adayalampattu Campus. The chief guest for the day was Dr. Balaji Singh , Professor and Head Department of Forensic Medicine, ACS Medical College and Hospital.

During his lecture, Prof. Dr. Balaji Singh elaborated the significance of forensic science in modern criminal investigations. He provided a detailed explanation of various types of crimes, with a particular focus on suicide cases. The speaker discussed the different forensic techniques used to examine and investigate such cases, highlighting the importance of accurate reporting and analysis in the legal process. He also explored the complexities of criminal investigations, including the types of crimes that forensic science addresses, and how evidence is gathered, analyzed, and presented.

Professor Dr. Balaji Singh further differentiated the investigation in homicide and suicide and provided valuable insights into how forensic science aids in investigation of these crimes. His lecture was rich with real-life case studies and examples, providing the audience with a deep understanding of how interdisciplinary approaches to forensic science contribute to criminal justice.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where participants had the opportunity to discuss the practical applications of forensic science in crime-solving.
