The Department of Political Science and Public Administration Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, organized a special guest lecture on the account of World Students’ Day, titled “Skilling of Youth.” The event was held on 23rd December 2024, at 11:00 AM, in the K101-Smart Room, Adayalampattu, Phase II Campus.
World Students’ Day is celebrated annually on October 15th to honor the birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the former President of India and a renowned scientist. The day emphasizes the importance of education, innovation, and youth empowerment. It serves as a reminder to students to dream big, work hard, and contribute positively to society. Dr. Kalam’s belief in the potential of young minds continues to inspire millions, making this day a celebration of their aspirations and achievements.World Students’ Day underscores the role of students in shaping the future and highlights the significance of nurturing their talents and skills for a better tomorrow.
The guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Jaraslo Vinod Raj, a Senior Social Development Specialist from Populus Empowerment Network (PEN), Mylapore, Chennai. With his vast experience in social development, Mr. Vinod Raj shared valuable insights into the importance of skill development for today’s youth and its role in shaping a sustainable future.
During his session, Mr. Vinod Raj emphasized the significance of equipping students with both technical and soft skills to meet the challenges of a dynamic and competitive global job market. He highlighted various government initiatives and opportunities available for skill development, encouraging students to take proactive steps in enhancing their personal and professional growth.
This initiative showcased the department’s commitment to fostering youth empowerment and aligning education with real-world demands, truly embodying the essence of World Students’ Day.
