Report of the Five-day Virtual International Faculty Development Programme on “Research methodology” which was jointly organized by the Faculty of Education and the Academic staff college, Dr.M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Chennai from 20th June 2022 to 24th June 2022.
We had nearly 1720 registered participants for this International Faculty Development Program from various parts of the world, like Malaysia, Yemen, Ghana & Sri Lanka. We also received a great response from various states like Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and so on.
The Day 1 session, which began at 1.30 p.m. on June 20, 2022, with 670 participants through Zoom and YouTube live stream, began with the invocation of mother Tamil ‘Tamil Thai Vazhthu’.
The Keynote Speaker Dr.Balan Rathakrishnan, Associate Professor, Faculty of Psychology and Education, University of Malaysia, Sabah, gave a brief note on the topic of the Faculty Development Program “Research Methodology” which is the need of the hour. He elaborated on the difference between the research method and research methodology. The types of research and the importance of knowing different tools and techniques used in the process of research.
The resource person Dr.P.Ravichandran, Research Dean and HOD, Computer Science Department, Silicon City College, Bangalore, gave his thought provoking speech on today’s topic “Significance of Questionnaire & its frame work”. He explained in detail about the pre requisite stages that is important in preparing a questionnaire. The importance of validity and reliability, the procedures to be followed in the validation of the questionnaire was highlighted by the resource person. Choosing different Statistical techniques depending upon the research method also was briefed by him.
