The Department of Electronics and Communication and Civil Engineering in association with Academic Staff College Organized a 6 – days Faculty Development Program on Intellectual Property Rights from 09th May 2022 to 14th May 2022 through Zoom platform. The Inaugural event started off with a Welcome Address by Dr. T. Kavitha, the Head of Civil Engineering Department. Our Respected Vice Chancellor Dr. S. Geethalakshmi gave the Presidential Address. The Keynote Address was delivered by our Revered Rector Dr. D. Viswanathan. Dr. V. Cyril Raj, AR – Admin, felicitated the event and dwelt the importance of design patents and products. Dr. Malini Pande, JR – H&S elaborated the significance of IPR. Dr. T. Felix Kala, JR – Student affairs explained the nuances of IPR. Prof. Ms. U. Jayalatsumi, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering introduced the Guest Speaker, Dr. T. Pavan Kumar, Senior Scientist, CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneshwar. The first day of the event was about ‘Innovation Dynamics: Patentable Vs Non-Patentable Inventions – A Practical Approach’. The Guest Speaker delivered about the intricacies of Patentable and Non-Patentable Inventions. It was an ice-breaker for the faculty members who are keen to apply for patents. Besides he questioned the audience with some illustrations and online pictures to make the audience aware about the difference between Patentable and non-patentable inventions. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. N. Lakshminarayanan, Assistant Professor / ECE Department. The department of ECE and Civil Engineering wholeheartedly thank our Honorable President for his magnanimous support and guidance rendered for the event.
