Warm greetings from the Faculty of Architecture, Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute. An online workshop on 3D modeling was organized by Ar. Harinya Meenu, for the students of B.Arch and B.Design UG course. A total of over 50 students participated in this event. A welcome note was given by Ar. Harinya Meenu.
The objective of this workshop was to help the students make creative manual models. Manual modeling helps the students to gain a thorough grasp of the scale and proportion if the space being modeled. It also gets the students to come up with creative ways of using existing materials to form different textures and forms.
Art. Mohankumar, who is very well-versed in the art of modeling and sculpting, led the students, by example, to create models of their own using different materials such as Mount board, Foam board, water colours, match sticks, tooth picks, netted fabrics, scrubs, sponge, player of Paris, saw dust, etc. The students were able to make miniature models of an interior space and miniature furniture models.
The overall outcome of this workshop was very good. The students were able to grasp the main objective of this workshop- to understand scale and proportion in relation to 3D modeling. They were also able to come up with creative use of the existing material for different textures and forms.
