Faculty of Education feels happy in sharing the report of the first day workshop on ‘Research Ethics and Management of Resources’ held on 15. 12. 2021 at 2:00 p.m. scheduled for 3 days in collaboration with Stella Matutina College of Education. The session began with a welcome note followed by the inspiring and motivating inaugural address by Dr.S.Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor, Dr.MGR ERI and stimulating felicitation address by Rev. Sr. Pauline Mary, Secretary, Stella Matutina College of Education.
Prof. Dr. A .John Laurence Associate Professor of English, Saint Xavier’s College of Education, Palayamkottai, the resource person of day one session enthralled the audience with an elaborate deliberation on the topic APA 7th edition style of indexing in-text references for all formats of book, journal article, web document and newspaper. The guest listed out the four widely-used referencing styles MLA (Modern Languages Association) system, the APA (American Psychological Association) system, the Harvard system, and the MHRA (Modern Humanities Research Association) system and elaborated the different style of referencing and citation for different discipline. The session was a blessing for the research scholars how and where the literature has been drawn to support the point and how one should ensure that the writing connects with the literature. The session had an insight on the three main methods for incorporating the ideas and research of other authors into the document:
• Quoting: copying the source information word for word
• Paraphrasing: putting the source information into other words and phrases
• Summarizing: creating a shortened version of the source information
