The Department of Civil Engineering organised a Technology talk on “Hydrocarbon Contamination in Soil and Ground water and opportunities for Civil Engineers“ for Civil and Geology students on 03rd December 2021 via online forum. Mr.D.Ramakrishna, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering hosted the event. Dr.T. Kavitha, HOD, Civil delivered the Welcome Address. Dr. RA. B. Depaa, Deputy HOD, Department of Civil Engineering introduced the speaker Mr.A.Sivakumar, Country HEAD, Environmental and Geospatial Solutions to the audience.
The speaker gave insights into the current practices involved in field monitoring of Hydrocarbon contamination sites as well as their remediation. Some of the remediation measures include bioremediation by planting of appropriate trees as well as development of salt pans.
Ms.V.Priyadarshini, Assistant Professor, Department, of Civil Engineering delivered the Vote of thanks. The event was organized by Mr.D.Ramakrishna, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering.
