Department of English organised a Three day Student Induction Program for the first year M.A. students as per the Deeksharam initiative of the UGC and guidelines given by Dr Udayakala under IQAC of our University, from15th to 17th November 21.
The first day Orientation and Induction Programme started with the Welcome Address by Dr.M.Chandrasena Rajeswaran,Professor and Head, Department of English. Dr.S. Geethalakshmi,Vice Chacellor,Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute gave the Introductory address and Dr. D.B. Jabaraj, Additional Registrar, E&S Campus gave the Orientation and Induction Address. Dr. Archana M. Sardana, Professor and Head, Department of English delivered the Inaugural address.
A Special address was delivered by Dr.Manoj, Professor and Head, Department of Psychology on the topic ’Stress Management for New Comers’. Dr.V.Karpaga Vadivu, Deputy Head (Administration) introduced the faculty members in the department. The faculty members of I M.A were introduced by Ms. A. Julie Elizabeth, Deputy Head (Academics).
On the second day Value Education Programme, Dr. R. Pushkala, Dean, Department of English delivered lecture on the topic ‘Literature, Life and Ethics’. Ms. S. Bhuvaneshwari, Assistant Professor explained the department activities and ethics. A Special address was delivered by Dr. A. R. Arunachalam, Dean (Academics), Phase-II on the topic ‘Values and Skills for Sustained Development’.
On the third day Study Skills Programme, Dr. M. Chandrasena Rajeswaran, Professor and Head, Department of English, delivered lecture on the topic ‘Literature as content for Learning Language and Culture’. A Special address was delivered by Dr. Jayam, Head, Human Resource Management, on the topic ‘ Learn Safe and Smart’ followed by Literary Quiz conducted by Ms. Nafiza Begum, Assistant Professor.
The induction program was organised by Dr. S. Meena Rani, Assistant Professor, and Ms.N. Nafiza Begum, Assistant Professor the Faculty Advisors of first M.A. English. Ms. R. Akshaya, Assistant Professor was the technical host for all the three days.
The department thanks our President, Vice Chancellor, Registrar and the University Management team for the constant support and guidance to the department.
