A Webinar on the topic “INTELLIGENCE UNIT COMMITMENT WITH VEHICLE TO GRID USING HYBRID OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUE” was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Association with IEEE MGR Student Chapter on 27th October 2021. The Resource person was Dr. N. Kumarappan, Chairman, IEEE Madras Section and CIS Madras Chapter,Professor,Department of Electrical Engineering,Annamalai University . The Session commenced around 11.00 A.M. The session started with a welcome address delivered by Dr. E.Sheeba Percis, Joint Registrar-Solar Cell & Socially relevant Govt. Projects.The felicitation address was delivered by Dr.L.Ramesh, Joint Registrar-EPA,Dr.S.Bhuvaneswari,HoD/EEE delivered the inaugural address.Ms.Swetha,Student Coordinator introduced the Speaker.
The speaker started with an introduction about the power system and engineering.He encouraged the students about the future scope of Electrical Engineers. He explained the present development of power sector in India and the present scenario of Renewable energy sources and conservation of energy through energy auditing and green revolution forums. He elaborated on the concepts of Smart Grid in detail. He clearly explained about the development of Electric Vehicle, power flow between grid to vehicle and vice versa, unit commitment based on Conventional and Renewable sources.
The speaker also elucidated on various optimization techniques that are incorporated in the gridable vehicles into the power system grid for intelligent unit commitment in order reduce the operating cost and emission.
The session concluded with the Q & A session and the speaker cleared all the queries asked by the participants. The program was held via Google Meet platform and streamed live in EEE official you-tube channel. More than 80 students had participated in Gmeet and 117 viewed through you-tube.
